For the past 3 years Upslope Brewing Company has taken it upon themselves to kick off the festival season with a big party at their Flatiron Park location. The Upslope Get Down is an all-day music festival with beer, lots of activities and games, and, of course, food trucks.
With a seemingly endless amount of festivals (beer or otherwise) each Summer season, why choose one that is limited to one brewery?
Most of us beer geeks go to a beer festival looking to find and experiment with every new style, shape and color of beer. Taking in the aroma, admiring a beer’s color, analyzing its characteristics, attempting to accurately describe what your senses are telling you. There is a time and place for this snobbery, but in reality, beer is for drinking and having a good time. Luckily, we have The Upslope Get Down to remind us of that.
The event took place last Saturday, May 21st from 1-10 pm. It was a marathon of endless music, and if you purchased a VIP pass, an endless flow of beer. The beer of the day, for us at least, was Upslope’s Belgian Style Blonde, brewed with guava. Perfectly light and refreshing for the hot day’s sun. For VIP there were other bigger, crazier, rarer beers, but in our opinion, to order one of those monsters would have defeated the purpose of the day. Altogether, a great festival, we can’t wait for next year’s fest!
